Sedona & Jerome AZ
Adult Tour
Sedona’s greatest attraction is her beauty. Sedona, Arizona is famous for its red and orange sandstone rock formations, giant erosion-sculpted red rocks. Masterpieces that took 350 million years! Sedona has long been known as a spiritual power center because of the subtle energy vortexes in the area. Ancient Native Americans believed this was a sacred healing place. They believed the land was so sacred, they used it solely for sacred ceremony. Many people believe that several healing vortexes (spiraling energy fields) meet underneath Sedona. Visitors from all over the world are drawn to Sedona for it's transformative healing powers.

What is Vortex Energy?
A vortex is the funnel shape created by the motion of spiraling energy. The vortexes in Sedona are swirling centers of subtle energy coming out from the surface of the earth. Familiar examples of vortex shapes are whirlwinds, tornadoes, and water going down a drain. A vortex can be made up of anything that flows, such as wind, water, or electricity.(Although the plural form of vortex” is generally “vortices,” in Sedona, “vortexes” is used.) The energy is not exactly electricity or magnetism, although it does leave a slight measurable residual magnetism in the places where it is strongest. Sedona is known as one of the most powerful spiritual centers on earth. This power reaches beyond the awesome landscape to the Vortex centers where vital energy is emitted in great abundance. Some believe Sedona emits positive energy to uplift and enlighten. Others believe it to be the perfect place to meditate, connect with nature and feel relaxed. Not to worry, even if you don't feel a thing, you'll still leave with beautiful photos. Where are these Vortexes? All over Sedona, but here are the primary locations for the most prominent Vortexes in Sedona.
Airport Mesa Vortex
Airport Mesa Vortex – with one of the best sunset views in all of Sedona, this vortex site emits a subtle electric energy that recharges the physical body and aids in opening our body’s energy centers known as the “chakras.” The energy at this vortex is superb for enhancing psychic abilities and expanding one’s spiritual consciousness. From the Center for the New Age, drive north to the “Y” intersection of Hwy 89A and Hwy 179. Turn left onto 89A. Drive west on 89A and take the first left onto Airport Road. The vortex is located about half way up Airport Road. There is a parking area on the left. You can walk up the trail directly ahead of you between the two hills. This entire area is the vortex site, so feel free to wander to your own private space where you can sit and relax or meditate.
Cathedral Rock Vortez
Cathedral Rock Vortex – while the appearance of this vortex is strength and force, it actually provides one of the most calming and soothing energies in Sedona. As a result, Cathedral Rock is the perfect place for stress reduction, regeneration of the physical body and rejuvenation of one’s spirit and spirituality. The easiest way to access Cathedral Rock is to drive Hwy 89A until you reach Upper Red Rock Loop road. Turn south and drive 1.8 to Chavez Ranch Road. Turn left and follow the pavement to Crescent Moon Park. Turn left into the park and drive as far as possible and then walk to the creek heading towards Cathedral Rock. This whole area is the vortex, but if you want to be right at Cathedral Rock, the following directions will get you there. An alternative route, though a little longer drive, will take you right to Cathedral Rock. Follow Hwy 179 until you reach the Village of Oak Creek. Turn west onto Verde Valley School Road. Follow it until the end (5 or more miles) where there is a parking lot. Cross the street and head down the hill to Cathedral Rock.
Bell Rock Vortex
Bell Rock Vortex – one of the most visible vortex sites off Hwy 179 as you enter Sedona from the Village of Oak Creek. The ‘electric’ energy of this vortex has been called the ‘activator’ due to the intensity of the energy. This vortex will rejuvenate and increase your physical vitality and energy. It also appears to bring out a playful childlike energy in some that helps to release and free the inhibitions of our more serious adult self. Be sure to observe the twisted bark of the Juniper Trees in the area of the Bell Rock Vortex.
Chapel of the Holy Cross Vortex
Chapel of the Holy Cross Vortex – one of the strongest and most easily felt vortexes in all of Sedona. The feeling within the walls of the chapel is one of inspiration and joy. The energy of this vortex site also includes love, harmony, unity and oneness with all that is. The Chapel is located at 780 Chapel Road in Sedona AZ. Take 179 south to Chapel Road., turn left and drive to the end of the road. You will find several parking areas that lead to a steep walk up to the Chapel of the Holy Cross.
Boynton Canyon Vortex
Boynton Canyon Vortex – the vast canyon and its vortexes encompass both masculine and feminine energies and are ideal for balancing these energies within oneself and for harmonizing relationships with others. From Hwy 89A turn north onto Dry Creek Rd. Follow the road until you see signs directing you to Boynton Canyon and a parking lot on the right just before the entrance to Enchantment Resort. From the parking area, walk along the trail marked Boynton Canyon Trail #47 which will take you to a powerful vortex location. However, the canyon is full of trails that lead to intense vortex energy centers so do not be afraid to explore the area freely.
Courthouse Butte Vortex
Courthouse Butte Vortex - located just east of Bell Rock Vortex, this powerful energy center juts up from the earth with great strength and determination. This vortex site emits an aura of mystery, history and adventure and many travelers claim they have experienced deep spiritual transformations through the entering of portals located within the rock. This vortex is one of the strongest catalysts for personal and spiritual growth in Sedona. Courthouse Butte is located off Hwy 179 just north of the Village of Oak Creek. If you are coming from Sedona, this vortex is just 4 miles south of the Center for the New Age. There are a number of turnoffs where you may park your car and follow visible trailheads that will lead you toward this massive vortex. There is also a public parking area south of Bell Rock where you can park your car and easily reach Court House Butte.
Schnebly Hill Vortex
Schnebly Hill Vortex – the rough terrain leading up to the top of this vortex takes you to one of the highest plateaus in Sedona for amazing views of Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon. This vortex energy is cleansing and purifying. For those who are looking to release old negative patterns and blockages, this is the place. All vortexes emit energy and for those who just wish to feel increased energy and vitality, Schnebly Hill Vortex will do the trick! From Hwy 89A turn south onto Hwy 179. Turn left (east) onto Schnebly Hill Road. Continue up the road to the top of the hill where you will be able to pull off and park.
It is a unique phenomenon that Juniper Trees respond to the vortex energy in a physical way that reveals where this energy is strongest. The stronger the energy, the more of an axial twist the Juniper trees have in their branches. Instead of going straight down the branch, the lines of growth follow a slow helical spiral along the length of the branch. That is, Juniper trees twist in the presence of a vortex. The stronger the vortex energy, the more pronounced will be the twist. Vortexes can be classified as masculine, feminine or balanced. In other words, the energy emanating from a specific vortex strengthens the masculine side of a personality, or the feminine aspect, or it enhances the yin/yang balance of one’s being. The masculine side can be seen as being on a scale that has strength at the high end and weakness at the low end. People who have a strong masculine side are self-confident. They have the internal strength to take charge of their own lives, and to claim their rights in life. This makes them good at standing up to people who try to take away their rights by force, intimidation or manipulation. Having a strong masculine side means being good at taking risks when appropriate, being decisive when necessary, and being able to focus or concentrate in order to get things done. It also means being good at figuring out how to get out of life what is desired; figuring out how to operate responsibly, and how to reason without distorting reality. Conversely, people who have a weak masculine side often doubt their abilities, and many things intimidate them. The feminine side can be viewed as a continuum that has goodness at the high end, and the opposite, which is badness or evil, at the low end. The feminine side strengthens the ability to allow others their rights and not interfere with those rights. The vortex which enhances the feminine side strengthens the things normally thought of as feminine, such as kindness, compassion, patience and the ability to let others need you and depend on you. And it strengthens the ability to anticipate the impact of your actions before you act, which is what considerateness is all about. The balance between the masculine and feminine sides is almost as important as growth itself. Even a less evolved person, if he is balanced, at least treats other the same way he treats himself. And that is what balance is all about. If the masculine side strongly outweighs the feminine, you are too strong for the amount of goodness you have, and you tend to do harm to others by taking unfair advantage of them. On the other hand, if the feminine side greatly outweighs the masculine, you have more goodness than strength, and you tend to let others push you around and take advantage of you. Emotions are a good indication of this balance. If you feel anger more easily than fear, your masculine side is stronger, and if the opposite is true, your feminine side is stronger. Having a good masculine/feminine balance also helps make relationships work well, such as intimacy, commitment, honesty and openness. There are any number of ways an individual can work at enhancing these aspects of personality. Perhaps the easiest way to accomplish this, is to experience for yourself the magical, mystical, sacred vortex energy of Sedona!
